Everybody has a favorite neighborhood… right? Whether it’s the one you call home or the one where “the grass is greener,” when you picture your town, there’s always that one location that stands out from the rest.
Okay, maybe this is just my personality. I’ve been a realtor in the Lincoln County area for over 20 years, so I’m very familiar with our local neighborhoods. My favorites are constantly changing, but, depending on your price range, there are a few that I think everyone should visit.
For a functional, reasonably priced starter home, you have to check out Canopy Creek. Houses here usually have three to four bedrooms (plenty of room for a growing family and/or guests) and up to 2,600 square feet. Most of them were built in the last four years, and they’re known for their energy-efficient features. It’s the perfect spot to ground into a healthier, quieter lifestyle (while saving thousands of dollars in utility bills). Plus, it features a resort-style community pool and cabana.
With a budget between $600k-$800k, you can get cozy in Westport. Constructed between 1970 and ‘90, the lot sizes are pretty generous compared to those in newer neighborhoods. But my favorite thing about Westport is its tight-knit community. Regular events, clubs, and activities foster a sense of belonging and provide opportunities for residents to connect. It’s also home to Westport Golf Club, which, besides a golf course, includes a pool, a tennis court, and a pickleball court. If physical activity is a non-negotiable in your routine, you’ll definitely appreciate the amenities.
There isn’t much demand for luxury in Lincoln County, but if that’s what you’re hunting for, you can find it in Pebble Bay. It’s located along the southern shore of lovely Lake Norman, complete with stunning views and direct access to the water. This neighborhood boasts upscale, custom-built homes, many of which are situated on expansive, wooded lots. In fact, Pebble Bay is known for its mature trees that nestle residents in nature.
Of course, there are gorgeous neighborhoods all over Lincoln County, so these are just a few that I love. When I’m showing homes to potential buyers, it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of living in such a beautiful area. I think everyone should feel that way about their town—like it’s the only logical, heart-happy place to live.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think we all deserve that kind of everyday magic.
